The one thing we can’t do often enough when it comes to a goal… Celebrate progress!

Getting your child to sleep might not sound like a big deal, but for any parent who’s been there done that the big deal nature of it might relate.

Not so long ago I was focused on getting a consistent good night’s sleep and as a friend quite rightly pointed out - this could be my greatest challenge yet!

It had been a few years, and in many ways it’s out of my direct control, which always adds to the goal’s difficulty level. But I knew the world would be a better place when we achieved it :)

On the first night of this challenge there wasn’t a lot of sleep - but there was progress! And that’s what I chose to focus on. And it felt good. It felt like we were on our way towards achieving something. And in time, we did!

And it made me realise just how vital it is to celebrate progress as we journey towards our goals. Particularly for the high-achievers amongst us. We can naturally default to how much more there is to do as opposed to pausing for a little back pat along the way for how far we’ve come.

So next time you find yourself with a big goal in your sights, be sure to celebrate the progress you make along the way. I guarantee it will not only feel better, but help achieve your goal as well.
